Mrs. Martha J. EPPERSON died this morning at 2:20 at the family residence 406 John Street. Eight weeks ago Mrs. Epperson fell and broke her hip and owing to her advance age her condition grew worse from time to time until the end. Mrs. Epperson was born in Hamtilon, Butler Co., OH 83 years ago and came to Montgomery Co with her parents when she was 4. In 1849 she was married to David Epperson whose death occurred 12 years ago. Mr. Epperson was one of the county's most prosperous farmers. 30 years ago with her family, Mrs. Epperson became a residence of Crawfordsville and has since resided here. She had been a life long member of the First Presbyterian CHurch and was a firm believer in the teachings of its doctrine. Her death is the last of a family of 9 children. She is survived by 5 daughters; Mrs. JL Patterson; Mrs. JJ Scott; Mrs. Smith Swank, all of this city, Mrs. AC Mahorney of Montepelier, Ind and Mrs. George Arthur of Terre Haute. The funeral will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 and interment will be made in Oak Hill. - kbz
